flowers for sunday worship

We invite our congregation to donate flowers which will adorn the Sanctuary chancel on Sunday mornings. Many people find it comforting to donate on a particular Sunday in memory of a loved one, celebration of an anniversary, or other special occasion. The cost is $300. To sponsor the organ, the cost is $75. Flowers are delivered to homebound and ill members later in the week. Orders should be made at least one week in advance through the church office: 626/282-4181.

Mission Team giving opportunities

Our Mission Team offers both seasonal and year-long giving opportunities.

  • ONE GREAT HOUR OF SHARING OFFERINGMORE THAN JUST FISH BANKS!

For over 70 years, One Great Hour of Sharing has provided Presbyterians a way to share God’s love with our neighbors both near and far.  Alone we may feel powerless, but united we are strong enough to change the world.  The Lord has commanded us to love our neighbors and this is how we do it!

This year our One Great Hour of Sharing Offering will be allocated to Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA), the emergency and refugee program of the Presbyterian Church USA focusing on the long-term recovery of disaster impacted communities.  PDA enables our congregation to witness to the healing love of Christ through caring for communities adversely affected by crisis and catastrophic events, both natural and human-caused.  Out of chaos comes hope!

  • MOTHER’S DAY LOVE

Looking for the perfect gift for that special woman in your life?  For as little as $5.00 you can give the gift of LOVE in honor of your mother or someone equally as special!  It’s the perfect alternative to store-bought gifts.  It’s easy and personal, but more than that, this alternative gift will help teach the LOVE of God to children living in the poor barrios of Latin America.  Look for more information on Mother’s Day Love and our mission partner Icthus International in the coming weeks.

Many children living in the poor barrios of Latin America remain unreached by the church.  Through Icthus International, young people (ages 4-17) are prepared for service and leadership through weekly programs delivered by pastors and lay leaders of local churches. The goal is to help them become eventual leaders in their communities. Icthus ministry seeks to develop Christian character while emphasizing God – Neighbor – Self.

It has been our privilege to partner with Icthus International and their ministry for many years.  May their ministry continue to teach the love of God.

  • care kits

Instead of the usual cards and gifts we give to those we hold dear, SMCC is again offering the opportunity to donate funds for Care Kits in your loved one’s name. A donation of just $10 covers the cost of a Care Kit that includes hygiene essentials, toiletries, mylar blanket, socks, snacks and other useful items.

  • Presbyterian disaster assistance

Presbyterian Disaster Assistance enables congregations and mission partners of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) to witness to the healing love of Christ through caring for communities adversely affected by catastrophic events, both natural and human-caused.  Out of chaos comes hope!  Please join us in supporting Presbyterian Disaster Assistance online.
