Our SMCC trips feature interesting locations, fellowship with other members of SMCC, spiritual reflection, amazing food and wine, historical discovery, and cultural experiences. This trip promises to continue that legacy as we enjoy the north of Spain. Our trips generally focus on areas of a country that even the most seasoned of travelers will enjoy and appreciate as new experiences. This “off the beaten path,” tour will focus on the famed Camino Real and the wonderful small towns and beautiful countryside in northern Spain.Together, we will explore the Basque region, the famed tapas and pintxos, the La Rioja wine region (and enjoy some of the best red wines Spain offers) and, for those who prefer white, we will then travel on to Rias Baixas for some of the world’s best seafood and Albariño wines, all the while enjoying the fabulous northern coastline of Spain. We will also enjoy important historical sites. In addition to the tremendous historical significance of northern Spain; Spain is also home to several important cathedrals and the Prado Museum, which we will also have an opportunity to experience and enjoy. A significant goal of our trip is to build connections among the travelers. As congregants of SMCC, this is an opportunity for all of us to spend quality time with other members. Our trip will be led by our Pastor, Rev. Jessica Vaughan Lower, who will coordinate opportunities for spiritual reflection and connection in this wonderfully rich part of the world.
