Peeling the Onion Part Two
Cultural Intelligence (CQ) and Its Impact on Racism
Join us for a Six-Week Online beginning in January 2021
Facilitated by Marisa Avramovich, Greater LA Young Life Regional Trainer and Southwest Division Training Coordinator. Marisa is also a Cultural Intelligence (CQ) Certified Trainer and Unconscious Bias Certified Trainer. She will introduce class participants to a new tool in responding to racism: Cultural Intelligence (CQ).
Cultural Intelligence (CQ) is a person’s capability to function effectively in a variety of cultural contexts – both internationally and domestically. In our own cultures, we usually have an idea of what’s going on around us because we have a wealth of information, most of which is subconscious, that helps us make sense of what we experience and observe. When we interact with individuals who have a different cultural background, the same cues may mean something entirely different. CQ Knowledge is understanding the way culture influences how people think and behave and their level of familiarity with how cultures are similar and different.
Due to limited spots in this class, interested participants are invited to register with Rev. Jan Cook as soon as possible. JCook@smccpby.com
A brief (20-30) minute gathering will be held on Sunday afternoon, December 20 at 4:00, via Zoom. This is simply a time to meet Marisa and to introduce the class to one another.
