Faith starts in childhood. Getting involved can bring families together to grow in faith, and give your child a foundation for life. At San Marino Community Church we love children! On Sundays, and everyday, we seek to provide high quality care and to encourage children in their faith. We nurture a love for God's Word and a delight in worship. Interactive, engaging Sunday school classes are at the heart of our ministry. Ages Kindergarten-5th Grade will attend worship with their parents then are dismissed to Sunday School. To register please fill out a 2017/2018 Participation Form. (Note: If you are attending for the first time, feel free to pick up a form on Sunday at the information booth.)
Drop-Off 9:00 am in the Lower Courtyard where ages 3 to 5 years learn the stories of their faith through interactive storytelling
After "Time with Children" in the Traditional 9:00 am worship service, kids are released to the following locations:
- Kindergartners meet upstairs at the Boardwalk where they learn Bible stories through multi-sensory activities
- 1st & 2nd Graders meet in the Tree House where they learn scripture through Godly Play and theme-related activities
- 3rd Graders meet in the Headquarters where they will dig into their very own Bible and notebook
- 4th & 5th Graders meet in the Clubhouse where they will challenge themselves with the meaning of faith in and out of church
Childcare available @ 7:30 am - Noon in the Lower Courtyard
Infant-18 months are cared for by our loving and dedicated nursery staff.Toddlers up to 3-years-old enjoy interactive nursery childcare, learning about their faith through song and story. It is here that we begin to live our our baptismal promises to these infants to raise them in the faith.
Special Children's Program Sundays, 10:00 am - Noon
A special children’s program for all ages is also offered in the Lower Courtyard during Fellowship Time and adult classes.
Vacation Bible School is coming soon and space is limited. Register your child for a week-long exploration of Jesus’ love and teachings, for children 4 years old - entering 5th grade. The week culminates in a Sunday morning celebration, August 6th. Register Now
Invite friends and neighbors to see faith-inspiring theatrical-release movies. Pre-movie fun relating to the theme is always a highlight as is the opportunity for family discussions. Previous films: The Good Dinosaur, Inside Out, and The Lego Movie.
Fourth and Fifth graders serve as acolytes assisting once a month in the 9:00 am Sunday worship service as candle lighters in the Sanctuary. All interested children are encouraged to sign up. This is a great opportunity for your child to be a leader in their faith community and to begin to discover how they are called and gifted for Christian service. Contact Bong Bringas
September to May, Music & Discovery is a spiritually-based choral music & creative arts ministry for ages PreK thru 5th grade, held during the school year. Children will learn fundamentals of singing and music; have regular art and discovery portion, enjoy snack and getting to know one another. Participants sing in worship throughout the year and present faith-based musicals. Semester fees apply. Contact Elizabeth Kerstein, Director.
September to May, 3rd, 4th, 5th grade boys meet on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays, 4:30-6:00 pm at the Boardwalk (formerly the Art Room). This age group create their own adventures and develop an their interest in the Creator and their own spirituality. This age group might think a little differently about competition, making friends, grief, making time for church, what to say when your tongue tied, how to stand up for onesself.Let's go on an adventure and climb higher! September to May, American Girls is an experience for 3rd, 4th, & 5th grade girls, meeting the first and third Wednesday of the month in the Treehouse. It's just girls getting together to have fun while doing some arts and crafts, and talking about things we all
have in commo.n Church going American girls might think a little differently about jealousy, making friends, our feelings, and the challenges of being a girl. Because we know God loves us, we face these challenges in a healthy way! Contact Family Ministries
Third Graders mark their spiritual growth as they receive personalized Bibles in September and throughout the year our teachers give them an overview of age-appropriate scripture. All classes conclude at 10:00 am at which time parents are asked to pick up their children from their designated classroom. Contact Family Ministries
At the 4:00 pm Nativity Pageant/Christmas Eve Service, kids Pre-School age and older can participate in telling the story of Christmas. During the month of December 5th grade children are cast and rehearse for the re-enactment of Jesus' birth. Younger kids can play the part of angels and shepherds with no prior rehearsal.
